I've run pgvector in production across multiple real projects. Here are the hard-earned lessons nobody puts in their README, from index tradeoffs and embedding lock-in to Supabase gotchas and similarity threshold calibration.
Every post is something I had to learn the hard way. The pgvector article came out of debugging recall on three live systems. The Docker backup script replaced a paid service.
If it saved me time, it will probably save someone else time too. That is the whole point.
